Day 1 | Hanoi – Pu Luong: Scenic Drive & Thai Village Visit

Pu Luong Nature Reserve – a hidden gem in North Central Vietnam, an untouched haven of limestone mountains, lush valleys, and rich biodiversity. Home to diverse flora and fauna, as well as traditional Thai and Muong ethnic communities. A three-hour drive from Hanoi, along steep, winding roads in mountainous Northwest Vietnam, brings you to Mai Chau in time for lunch.

After lunch, a short drive from Mai Chau takes you into Pu Luong Nature Reserve, where you trek to the charming village of Báng, home to the best terraced rice fields in the region. From the pass, you descend through vast terraced paddies leading down to the valley. Each season reveals a different landscape – harvesting season covers the fields in golden hues, cultivation season brings vibrant green tones, while watering season transforms the terraces into shimmering pools reflecting the sky.

A friendly conversation at a local home offers an insight into the daily life of a Thai ethnic family. The last stretch follows a jungle trail along a spring, leading up to the main road, where your vehicle awaits to take you deeper into Pu Luong for the night.
