Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is one of Asia's most captivating cities, offering a unique blend of Oriental traditions and Western influences. The city is adorned with exotic, brightly painted temples and pagodas, elegant ochre-washed colonial villas, bustling narrow streets and alleys, tree-lined boulevards, lush parks, tranquil lakes, and the fascinating Old Quarter.
Hanoi is regarded as Asia's loveliest city, featuring scenic parks and lakes, tree-lined boulevards, and architecture rich in history. Despite increasing development, this ancient city retains its unique character and cultural traditions. A visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, his former residence, and the house on stilts provides insights into Vietnam's history, culture, and struggle for independence. The ancient Temple of Literature, established in 1070 and dedicated to Confucius, offers an opportunity to learn about Vietnam's educational heritage, with its classic architecture and status as the nation’s first university.
Afterwards, explore one of Hanoi's renowned museums, such as Hoa Lo Prison (nicknamed the 'Hanoi Hilton' by US pilots during the war), the Army Museum, the National Fine Arts Museum, the History Museum, or the Vietnamese Women's Museum. This is followed by a visit to Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake, before enjoying a leisurely Cyclo ride through the charming streets and captivating shops of Hanoi's Old Quarter. The streets still bear names reflecting their former trades or locations.
End your day with a traditional Water Puppet performance, offering a unique cultural experience.
